2010s

2012: Fred Pang joins Macfadden’s Board of Directors

2011: Macfadden names David M. Binns President & CEO

2010: Macfadden achieved its International Organization for Standardization (ISO) 9001:2008 Certification. This independent registration validates Macfadden's commitment to quality and affirms that Macfadden has thoroughly documented its quality processes while meeting the stringent qualifications for the global ISO standard.

As a result of continued revenue growth, Macfadden graduated from the last of its SBA small business standards.

The ceiling for Macfadden's 2006 $80 million follow-on Indefinite Quantity contract (IQC) supporting USAID's Bureau for Democracy, Conflict and Humanitarian Assistance (DCHA) was increased to $135 million and the Period of Performance Extended.

2000s

2009: Awarded a Tier 2-Small Business prime contract under the U.S. Food and Drug Administration's (FDA) Enterprise System Life Cycle Management Support (ELMS) contract. Macfadden was also a subcontractor to Science Applications International Corporation (SAIC), which was awarded a Tier 1-Large Business ELMS contract.

Awarded a subcontract under prime contractor, IBM Global Business Services, to support the Health and Human Services (HHS) for Healthcare Research and Quality (HRQ) National Resource Center for Health Information Technology (NRC). Under this contract, the team provides Health IT Portal Infrastructure Management and Website Design and Usability Support.

Awarded a 5-year fixed price contract to provide software development and maintenance services for the Project Management Information System used by the National Park Service (NPS) Budget Office.

2008: Acquired Systems Integration Group, Inc. (SIG), a leading provider of professional, engineering and information support services to both federal and commercial markets

Awarded a GSA Alliant Small Business Contract through our joint venture, Alliant Across America Information Systems (A3IS)

2007: Awarded a follow-on 5-year contract supporting the U.S. Department of State's Office of the Coordinator of U.S. Assistance to Europe and Eurasia (EUR/ACE).

Awarded a 3-year subcontract by Development Alternatives, Inc. (DAI) to support USAID's Stamping Out Pandemic and Avian Influenza (STOP AI) project.

Macfadden's Employee Stock Ownership Plan (ESOP) purchased the remaining 65% of founder Jim Macfadden's equity to become a 100% employee-owned company.

Awarded a 10-year subcontract by Northrop Grumman on GSA Alliant Indefinite Delivery/Indefinite Quantity (IDIQ) contract with a $50 million ceiling.

2006: Awarded an $80 million follow-on Indefinite Quantity contract (IQC) supporting USAID's Bureau for Democracy, Conflict and Humanitarian Assistance (DCHA).

Awarded a follow-on 5-year Firm Fixed Price (FFP) contract supporting the Peace Corps Voice Communications.

2005: Awarded an FDA-wide $16.5 million sole-source Blanket Purchase Agreement to further FDA mission objectives in the area of data management, enterprise search and system security.

Macfadden's contract supporting USAID's Bureau of Humanitarian Response, Office of U.S. Foreign Disaster Assistance was extended for an additional year.

2004: Jim Macfadden sold 35% of equity to Macfadden's Employee Stock Ownership Plan (ESOP) to initiate a process for transitioning company ownership to Macfadden's employees.

Macfadden re-branded itself and adopted the tagline, "Delivering Results. Exceeding Expectations."

Jim Macfadden named Russell E. Hall as CEO of Macfadden.

2001: Awarded a 5-year contract supporting the U.S. Department of State's Office of the Coordinator of U.S. Assistance for Europe and Eurasia (EUR/ACE).

2000: Macfadden awarded first 5-year prime contract in 2000 supporting USAID's Bureau of Humanitarian Response, Office of U.S. Foreign Disaster Assistance.

1990s

1998: Graduated from the Small Business Administration’s 8(a) program and became a certified Small Disadvantaged Business (SDB)

1996: Awarded 5-year $30 million contract from the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA)

1994: Awarded prime contract supporting the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) Center for Drug Evaluation & Research (CDER)

Awarded a prime contract supporting Participant Records Information Systems Management (PRISM) at Pension Benefit Guaranty Corporation (PBGC)

1992: Awarded a contract supporting the U.S. Department of State supporting the Bureau of European Eurasian Affairs & awarded a prime contract supporting the Office of Aviation Safety at the FAA

1991: Macfadden was awarded its first subcontract with USAID providing the Office of U.S. Foreign Disaster Assistance (OFDA) with grants management support

1980s

1989: Macfadden received the Small Business Administration’s 8(a) program certification to assist small businesses owned, controlled and operated by socially and economically disadvantaged individuals by providing services to the federal government with the aim of helping these owners create viable businesses

1987: Awarded contract to provide records management systems support to the Office of Aviation Safety at the FAA

1986: Deaf businessman, James R. Macfadden, founded Macfadden & Associates, Inc. and located its headquarters and operations in Silver Spring, MD. Macfadden began as a small disadvantaged business focused on provided automated data processing support to the federal government. That year Macfadden was awarded its first contract with Records Management Systems supporting Booz Allen Hamilton at the General Services Administration (GSA)
